On May 6, 2025, an article titled “The ticking clock sets the pace for female fertility” was published in the journal Annales d’Endocrinologie, with Elisa Nied, PEPR SAFE funded PhD candidate, as one of the authors.
A better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms governing reproductive activity is essential for developing new therapeutic tools to address the growing number of men and women facing fertility issues.
In this review, the authors describe the endogenous circadian clocks involved in the synchronization of reproductive cycles. They also discuss the impact of circadian disruptions on fertility.
This publication thus highlights the importance of taking lifestyle factors, particularly work schedules, into account during consultations for infertility issues, as well as exploring chronotherapeutic interventions to enhance reproductive health.
