The Endometriosis Phenome and Biobanking Harmonisation Project (EPHect) has published a set of standardized protocols for the use of experimental models in endometriosis research.

This work, entrusted to a working group of 44 collaborators from 11 countries, has led to the publication of open-access reviews in the journal Human Molecular Reproduction on:

– Homologous mouse models

– Heterologous mouse models

– Pain assessment methods in murine models

– Endometrial organoids

Launched in 2013 by the World Endometriosis Research Foundation, EPHect aims to develop standardized collection methods for clinical and surgical data, and to convene standardized protocols for the collection of biological samples.

The recently published work presents a critical review of existing models and proposes recommendations and standardized protocols, helping to foster multicenter studies and international collaboration.
